Comparison
10 tracked emails a month isn't a free plan.
Boomerang is a fine scheduling tool, but its free tier gives you 10 message credits a month and its tracking lives on paid plans from $4.98. Lookt flips that: unlimited open tracking with exact counts and full timelines is the free plan.

Three reasons people switch
Unlimited, actually free
Boomerang meters your month with credits. Lookt tracks every email you send, free, with no counter ticking down.
Deeper open data
Boomerang tells you an email was opened. Lookt tells you how many times, exactly when, on what device, and from roughly where.
Cheaper when you do pay
Boomerang's paid tiers run $4.98–14.98. Lookt Pro is $2 flat for link tracking, reports, device and location detail, and CSV export.

Common questions
Boomerang is mainly for scheduling — is this the same category?
They overlap. Boomerang's heart is send-later and inbox snoozing with tracking attached; Lookt's heart is tracking, with scheduled tracked send as a Pro tool. If you live by inbox-pause features, keep Boomerang. If you mostly want to know when emails get read, Lookt does more of that for free.
Do both tools mark opens the same way?
Both use a tracking pixel, so accuracy is equivalent and both share the same caveat: image-blocking clients and Apple Mail Privacy Protection can hide or inflate opens. Lookt shows its confidence level per open instead of pretending otherwise.
Can I use both at once?
Yes — some people keep Boomerang for scheduling and let Lookt handle tracking. Just don't enable tracking in both, or you'll double-pixel your emails.
Track every email. Not ten.
Add Lookt to Chrome and every email you send is tracked, free, with exact counts.
